A pyramid shaped construction used for a 3D movie theatre. The construction was designed by architect Haim Dotan and Israel David Engineering. The steel construction including the theatre's ceiling and the pyramid roof was designed by Rokach Ashkenazy with the help of Architect Hilel Grossman and executed by Adi 2000.
The theatre's ceiling was designed as flex floor with 23 meter spans. The ceiling is also the restaurant floor and carries an aquarium measuring 240*600*200 cm.
The pyramid was designed as a spatial construction. Size - 40/40 spans 25 meters high. A major problem was the temperature difference between the internal and external (due to the extreme Eilat heat). These differences created strong forces from the inside. In order to reduce these forces we calculated the construction as an independent unit sitting on coils that enable the structure to move horizontally but not vertically. These coils were translated into neoprene pillows that are the base of the whole structure.
The execution of the pyramid was done by "Adi 2000" and were transported from Netanya to Eilat. On site each side of the pyramid was attached and lifted into place as whole.
